Kick Butt at Work
By Vanessa Palencia
Tired of feeling overwhelmed at work and looking at your pile of endless projects that keep staring back at you mockingly? Want to feel like despite the chaos of work that you accomplished something like the boss you are? Well, fear no more. These super quick, simple fixes can help you kick butt at work and feel like you just conquered the work world. You're welcome.
1. Dress for success
Notice that I say ‘dress for success’ and not dress to impress because it's hard to feel our best when we're not feeling confident and on top of our game. Whether dressing for success means donning yoga pants and a messy bun or dressing up in some cute jeans and a blouse, make sure you feel invincible.
2. Make a daily to-do list
Having a visual of everything you need to accomplish for the day and checking them off as you go can help you see how much you're doing throughout the day.
3. Organize your desk
There’s something about having a clean and organized desk that makes you feel like you’re ready for World War III in the work force. Maybe it’s the idea of knowing that if you need a highlighter during a webinar, you know exactly where to find it. Or it could have something to do with not having a low-key panic attack over seeing a crowded, messy desk. Who knows?
4. Tackle all the easy projects first
You and I both know this. If you complete the smaller projects first, then you’ll leave more than enough time to focus all of your attention on the bigger ones and be able to recognize the dents you’ve made in those bigger projects.
5. Relax and destress
Let's face it, it's hard to give it your best at work when you're on edge or feel like you're a few seconds away from blowing up. If you want to really kick butt at work, you need to prime yourself by making a point to relax and destress throughout the day to avoid burnout. Simple techniques, like breathing meditation, can take just a few minutes to do. Find what works for you and implement it into your work routine!
