Grateful November: Friends & Family

Grateful November: Friends & Family

By Thao Nguyen

It’s hard to really commit to an article explaining what I’m thankful for this year when I have so many things to be thankful for. From my faith, to my family, to my job, and to my friends, I have so many blessings in my life that to write about just one feels like I’m cheating or short-charging a part of my life. So I’m gonna take the easy way out and write about how thankful I am for all of the people I love and who love me.

My appreciation for my family has grown so much in the past year. The sacrifices my parents have made for me become increasingly apparent as I started to understand the value of hard work  and unconditional love more. The joy and uniqueness that my sisters bring to my life was something I never truly acknowledged until I began to spend more time with them. This year opened my eyes to how much I took for granted when it came to family.

On the same note, I could cry forever at the love my friends have shown me this year. Their support and empathy has floored me again and again. I’ve truly learned how much I am loved in the last few months and it has helped me immensely. I finally understand what it means to want to be better for someone else. I wanted to be more worthy of the care and attention they gave me and it pushed me to work harder and to be a more thoughtful and considerate person.

Thankfulness in itself is a blessing. To sit down and think about all of the things you should be thankful for is humbling but joyous all at once. Take time to let the people in your life feel appreciated this month!
