A Step-by-Step Guide for Meeting Your Boyfriend’s Ex and Still Keeping Your Dignity

  1. Remain calm and collected. When you first lay your eyes on them, your pulse will race and your heart will feel like jumping out of your chest, but do everything in your power to remain composed.

  2. Greet them with a handshake and a smile. If you feel adventurous and confident, you can start with a handshake and turn it into a hug. This will catch them off guard and put you in the dominant position. No one will be able to say that you are a jealous or cold-hearted girlfriend. WINNING!

  3. Ask them how they are. This will show others that you are perfectly comfortable in your current relationship and will demonstrate your level of authority. Their relationship didn’t work out for a reason. You shouldn’t feel inferior just because she was with him before you. There’s also a reason why you’re with him now and why the relationship is working out. You have something she doesn’t, and no, it’s not a boyfriend, because remember, boys don’t determine your worth. You have that special something that makes you compatible with your boyfriend.

  4. Engage them in conversation. Even if there are others around you, make sure that you make eye contact with your boyfriend’s ex to let them know that their presence doesn’t make you feel intimidated. You are strong. Si se puede, girlfriend!

  5. Bid them goodbye with a hug and a smile. In the same way that you greeted them, bid them farewell. If you still feel a little weird, a handshake is fine, but make sure it’s firm and make sure that you smile so bright it blinds them. By staying composed and showing them that their presence doesn’t affect you, you will be able to demonstrate how strong and confident you are in the relationship with your boyfriend. Not only will this be an accomplishment, but this behavior will also build a respectable reputation for you, which is what you want. Respectability goes a long way in this world, my friend.
